Project Staff

As project is a (usually) one-time temporary undertaking aiming at a certain objective, implemented within the company through special workers employed exclusively for this undertaking and only for the duration of this implementation.

Application

Your employer applies for a work permit, respectively, first for a conditional assurance for your visa (Sicherungsbescheinigung), for you as a specially qualified worker, employed exclusively for a certain company project, at the local Public Employment Service’s office (AMS).

The permit can only be granted if

• if Special knowledge (especially technical proficiency), a high level of qualification and matching professional experience are accounted for,
• An actual temporary employment for the duration of the project is intended,
• The AMS labour market test shows that that no other person, registred with the labour market service and already settled in Austria, can be recruited for the position, and
• the employer observes the applicable wage and working conditions.

The maximum duration for the employment permit is six months. An extension is not possible.

Entry and residence

Depending on the planned length of the stay, either a category D residence visa or a category C Schengen visa must be applied for the competent Austrian representation abroad. It is not possible to apply in Austria.

The visa will be issued if

• the general conditions for the issuance of visas are fulfilled and
• an AMS conditional assurance (Sicherungsbescheinigung) has been issued beforhand (see above).

Please note:

You may take up employment only after the visa has been issued. This vis does neither comprise the right to seetle permanently in Austria, nor the right to family reunification.
